Information architecture workshop

I’m taking an online UX course, while my boss wants to redesign our company website. I took this as a good chance to apply what I have just learnt - information architecture - card sorting!

I wrote down some keywords on post-it notes and asked my boss to sort them in categories, so I would know how the website is structured.

Besides sorting, I also prepared some questions like who is the target audience, what is the first impression of the website, how do you want the visitors to interact with your website, what is the goal of specific pages etc, so that I can have a clearer idea of what would be challenges and how to solve them out.

Brand New Illustration Series - BO & GG

BO & GG - MEAL TIME - banner.jpg

BO is a mean cat and GG is an innocent seal. Their opposite personalities create a cute contrast. They are good buddies and they love spending time together.

BO is inspired by a cat called Bone bone from Thailand. I love his big round eyes and cute non-smiled face. That reminds me those cats who don't want people to touch them, be mean and walk away. This is how BO was born.

GG is inspired by a seal soft toy called him Gary. Gary is small and has big round innocent eyes. I always think he is my good buddy, so I created GG to be BO's best friend.

Ednaillustration at exhibition! @JCCAC

In 17-21 March 2017, my secondary school was holding an art exhibition at Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) in Hong Kong, as a part of their 50th anniversary celebrations. I was invited by my art teacher to exhibit my work there in the alumni exhibition area. It was my great pressure!

I went back to Hong Kong from the UK for this event. My family and friends were so excited because we haven't seen each other for more than a year!

In the open ceremony, I met lots of familiar faces. It was impressive that my secondary school teachers still remember me and my name! Knowing that visual arts was my favourite subject at that time, they were all so pleased that I'm now work as a graphic designer and illustrator.

I can see the great effort from the current students and teachers, organising a big event from event planning to reception, is not an easy job. Well done to all the helpers and organisers!

I had a really enjoyable time there!

As a full time graphic designer in B'ham

I have been working at Eastside Co for four months, I really enjoy my job here because there's always opportunity to apply my skills outside graphic design, like drawing illustration (e.g. web and app icons) and taking photos (for company's instagram posts!)

Last month, I won my very first internal award, we call it 'trooper award'. We dominate one to two colleagues for their hard work every week. The 'trooper' came to me because of my design for the shopify meet up event. The 'trooper' reflects company's encouragement to people's contribution, which I hope every company should have this positive culture.

Beside work, we have a good work-life balance that we play foosball during lunch hour and break time. And every time when we have new members join in, we will have a pizza day! I remember my first day was a Pizza Friday and we had social after work, which was a very warm welcome :)

I'm going to pause my share here, wishing to have more and more good experience to share in a later date!

Writing a Chalkboard Menu

Tasty Bowl Food is a cheap and kind-hearted cafe for people who want to have a bowl of warm food but can hardly afford one at a restaurant.

I was committed to create an eye-catching menu at the counter. I have so much fun to complete the task, although it hurts my knees...

Work experience

Working under the Arches

The Arches Project, a railway arch space in Digbeth, offers a platform for creative talents of all discipline, giving emerging artists the opportunity to gain experience within the industry and achieve the exposure they would not other wise have received.

I approached TAP as a volunteer graphic designer, offering my design skills to this positive art organisation. I was committed to design their whole branding, giving them a new look for the new year. This rebrand project was started in the early January 2016.

I'd been trying on different types and colours for the new logo. A hand-written one has a strong artistic style, but is less legible. Adding the 'arches' element is always my goal because it's relevance to their brand name and their unique location.

TAP is a very warm and welcoming place, I used to go there once a week to share ideas, but then I came in almost every day to gain more work experience. Apart from the branding, I also worked on social media graphics, Artist and Sponsorship forms and press release. This voluntary work also enabled me to further my knowledge of art exhibition management.

Surrounded with nice and helpful people, creative paintings and talented artists from different places, I really enjoy working within this art atmosphere. I'd been doing volunteer work there until I got a job offer from a design and print company in the early March. These two months experience in TAP brought me a lot of happiness and confidence. I'm so glad to be a part of them.

I'm so excited to start a new journey for my career, and would still help TAP on my spare time. If you also want to help artists follow their dreams, go to and start shopping at your favourite online stores. It is completely free for you and a great help for them. I'm kindly appreciate that!

Ednaillustration first appeared in HK @Thenthusiasts

Last Sunday, Thenthusiasts - a Hong Kong store for carefully selected designer products, was holding a Decoupage Market and Workshop at Stanley Plaza. I was cooperating with them as one of their designers to sell some cards there.

Their Decoupage Workshop was fun, people really enjoy the making process of their DIY pouches. I wish I were there too.

At my little corner, there was a pop up display board and a video showing my drawing process. It helps to drive people in and let visitors to know more about my illustration brand.

At the end of the day, only a few cards were left. I am so satisfied with the result :)

Can't imagine I can sell my cards 6K miles away when I am in the UK. It is a good start of my illustration career. Thanks a lot to Thenthusiasts and all my friends who came in!
